Unable to reverse STO delivery through VL09 with HU's

 There is no material document that can be cancelled in these HUs' history
Symptom

• An outbound delivery for a Handling Unit (HU) managed storage location cannot be reversed in transaction VL09.

• Transaction VL09 issues an error when trying to reverse the outbound delivery of an STO which contains HU's.

• Error while reversing GI/GR through VL09.

• Error HUFUNCTIONS 272 is issued in VL09: "There is no material document that can be cancelled in these HUs' history".

• Error HUDIALOG 304 is issued in VL09: "Handling units have been changed. No cancellation possible".

• Error HUFUNCTIONS 286 is issued in VL09: "Handling Unit &1 was already cancelled - you cannot cancel it again".

• Error HUFUNCTIONS 274 is issues in VL09: "Handling unit &1 was last posted with material document &2".

1. Create an STO (Stock Transport Order) in transaction ME21N where the source storage location is HU managed.

1. Create an outbound delivery for the STO (transaction VL10).

1. Pick the HU that is to be posted on the packing screen in transaction VL02N (or via a transfer order if the storage location is also warehouse managed).

1. Save the delivery and post goods issue in transaction VL02N.

1. Create an inbound delivery in transaction VL31N.

1. Add the HU to the inbound delivery and complete the putaway of the stock (via a transfer order if the storage location is warehouse managed).

1. Save the delivery and post goods receipt.

1. Now reverse the goods receipt posting in transaction VL09.

1. Following this, try to reverse the goods issue for the outbound delivery in VL09.

1. An error is issued with regard to the HU's, preventing the goods movement reversal.

Prerequisites
For handling units only the document that was posted most recently can be reversed.

**Please note that the following information is not specific to STO scenarios. Any HU posting where the HUs have been subsequently changed following the posting, should be completed and recreated in the opposite direction if possible.
Reproducing the Issue
Root Cause
It is not possible to reverse a goods movement with HU's if the HU has been subsequently changed (further updates can be seen in the HU history).

Handling units that were involved in goods movement postings may not be changed after the material posting. This includes repacking as well as assignment to a document.
Solution
When you want to reverse the stock transfer, you must trigger a stock transfer process in the opposite direction. (This is not specific to STO scenarios. - See Symptom)
